"A Legacy of Faith Since 1870"
Beulah Baptist Church was founded in 1870 when George Pollard donated land for a small log cabin nestled in a wooded area. Under the leadership of its first pastor, Rev. Paul Braxton, the church laid a strong spiritual foundation built on faith, perseverance, and community.
As the years progressed, dedicated pastors and committed members nurtured the church’s growth. Early leaders like Rev. Webb helped shape its identity, while the congregation’s devotion enhanced worship and fellowship. A significant season of expansion came under Rev. Gabriel Bannister (1888–1924), when the church secured its current location, established a choir, and joined the Northern Virginia Baptist Association—milestones that strengthened its presence in the community.
Through the early and mid-1900s, Beulah continued to flourish under faithful leadership. Rev. Richard N. H. Johnson (1932–1959) led one of the most transformative eras, guiding major renovations, introducing modern utilities, and expanding ministries that deepened both spiritual life and community connection.
In more recent decades, the church has continued to grow and evolve while remaining grounded in its mission. Under Rev. Douglas Gore (1986–2004; 2008–2024), Beulah experienced renewed vision through expanded ministries, campus improvements, and increased outreach. Rev. Ronnie Morton (2005–2007) further strengthened the church through organizational and technological advancements.
Today, under the leadership of Pastor Michael Ferguson, elected in 2025, Beulah Baptist Church continues to honor its rich legacy while looking ahead with purpose and faith. Over more than 155 years and the guidance of 17 dedicated pastors, Beulah has remained a place of hope and healing—rooted in God’s word, united by the Spirit in fellowship, and committed to serving its community as it has in generations past, for generations to come...until the Lord Himself returns!
